He is Risen!

This post has nothing to do with fashion as associated with clothes (most of my Musings do not), but the One who fashioned you, me us, in our mothers' wombs. The One who knitted us together in the secret place. The One who knew we existed before anyone else did, even our own mothers.

Yesterday was Easter Sunday. The day Christians, I, celebrate the empty tomb and our Risen Savior. You may or may not believe in Jesus or the Bible. But I do. The empty tomb is crucial to my faith because if the tomb was not empty on that third day, then He would not have conquered death and been made a liar. His resurrection proved that He did conquer death, and that one day any one who calls Him Lord will be raised into eternal life in Heaven.

This song by Travis Cottrell has been replaying in my head and on my iPod these past few days.

Hear the heart of heaven beating
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
And the hush of mercy breathing
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
Hear the host of angels sing
Glory to the newborn King
And the sounding joy repeating
Jesus saves

See the humblest hearts adore Him
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
And the wisest bow before Him
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
See the sky alive with praise
Melting darkness in its blaze
There is light forevermore
Jesus saves

He will live, our sorrow sharing
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
He will die our burden bearing
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
"It is done!" will shout the cross
Christ has paid redemption's cost
While the empty tomb declaring
Jesus saves

Freedom's calling
Chains are falling
Hope is dawning
Bright and true
Day is breaking
Night is quaking
God is making all things new
Jesus saves

Oh, to Christ, how great a debtor
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
Are the saints who shouts together
Jesus saves, Jesus saves
Rising up so fast and strong
Lifting up salvation's song
The redeemed will sing forever
Jesus saves

Rising up so fast and strong
Lifting up salvation's song
The redeemed will sing forever
Jesus saves(Jesus Saves)
Jesus saves(Jesus Saves)
Jesus saves

Styled: Fedoras

Fedora: J. Crew
Bracelet: Orange Peel consignment shop, Jackson, Mississippi

When I think of summer I think of long, easy dresses, short shorts, and fun accessories. One accessory I've been craving is the fedora. Baseball caps don't look that great on me, but floppy beach hats are my style and I knew I wanted to try a fedora. During my trip to Mississippi I made it my goal to find a fedora. We went to the J. Crew Factory store and there I found the perfect fedora! This fedora will go perfect with this look I posted earlier, as well as this one. It is becoming my favorite accessory for spring/summer!!

Monday Musings: Ready for Sunshine

source: pinterest & someecards.com

I love living in the South for more than one reason. But one of those reasons is that we get to experience every season. My closets are FULL of clothes that are for spring, summer, fall, and winter - which makes for full closets (I lucked out and convinced my parents I needed the room with two)!! I love taking my clothes from one season to another and still having a few season specific items to look forward to wearing. This year winter has seemed forever long, and although I don't really tan, I want to be out in the sunshine. We've had a few days of glorious sunshine followed by days of crazy wind and chilling temperatures. I'm not looking forward to the famous southern humidity we get each year, but I am ready for typical spring weather. Eventually I'll be ready for the intense summer heat, but not yet.

Ask me again in a few months and I'll be ready for crisp fall to arrive!!

Featured: Butter London Scrubbers

Top photo: www.butterlondon.com

I recently ordered two new make-up brushes from Ulta and got a few goodies in the box! I love freebies but a lot of times they aren't anything I'm interested in right now (maybe at 24 I should be trying anti-aging creams or over-night repair serums, but I'm not). Ulta, however, sent one of my new favorite products. When I travel, I generally take one-three nail polishes with me, on the off chance that I'll have time to let my nails dry long enough not to smudge. But I hate packing liquid nail polish remover because it takes up some room, also...it smells, bad. I was a little skeptical as to if one little scrubber pad would really remove the nail polish off all 10 nails. Normally I have to use a few cotton rounds, so like I said, I was REALLY skeptical.

Y'all, these things work! ONE SCRUBBER for ALL 10 NAILS!!! I couldn't believe it didn't go dry or tear. Granted I didn't have on a dark polish, but I did have on a bottom coat, a few color coats, and a top coat - it all came off! They come in a box of 10/$10 but I use top/bottom coats to help my polish last so this seems like a great deal to me. And for traveling purposes they're perfect - YES, thank you Ulta!!

Monday Musings: Mississippi Trippin' & Blessings

Top: Season, Laura,  and I are finally together!!
Bottom Left: Laura and her hubby Daniel - Sunday afternoon walk
Bottom Right: cookies for dessert and breakfast! coffee sleeve from their wedding

This time last week I was on my way home from Clinton, Mississippi (can you say ADORABLE small town?!) with one of my best friends from college. We spent all weekend with one of our other roommates and her new husband. They got married this past September in a beautiful barn-side wedding. After college I wondered which friends would I stay in touch with and if things would be the same between us once we didn't all live together. But let me just tell y'all something, the people the Lord has placed in my life before, during, and after college have blessed my life in so many ways.

Getting to spend several hours in the car with one of those amazing people, and then seeing the Lord's love in a young married couple - what a blessing. I could brag on my family and friends all day long, but y'all would probably get tired of it. They all challenge me, help me grow, and pick me up when I'm down. Psalm 1 tells us to walk not in the council of the wicked & Proverbs 18:24 tells of us One who sticks closer than a brother. I'm so thankful for old friends and new, and always my family.

Styled: Red Skinny Jeans & Easy Blazers

Pant & Polka Dot Blazer: Ann Taylor LOFT
Polka Dot Shirt: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls
Navy & White Striped Blazer: GAP outlet

As soon as I tried on these red skinnies over a year ago, I fell in love. But I already had too much in the fitting room that I wanted! I had been sending pictures to I my mom and when she saw these she said I had to have them and that she would pay for them. THANK YOU MOM! Being a Georgia grad, a red pair of pants should've already been in my closet, but they weren't. I have loved wearing these pants this past year and love finding new tops to pair with them!

Also, have y'all tried this new style of blazers?? I'm obsessed! They are so comfortable and still give a professional look to your outfit. I don't know about y'all, but I dreaded the thought of wearing a suit, so stiff and stuffy, all the time in the 'real world', but these blazers go perfect with shorts, skirts, pants,  anything! They definitely take the stiffness and stuffiness out of traditional blazers and can be worn all year round!

I was a little nervous mixing polka dots but the black/cream combo of both made me try it together. While waiting for friends to text back if they thought it worked, I just decided to go with it. Now it is one of my favorite outfits!
